Rachel started her love affair with the outdoors whilst growing up on a farm in Pukeatua nestled at the base of Mt Maungatautari Wildlife Sanctuary. Her affinity with animals and wildlife in the wetland areas of the farm led her into a management cadetship with NZ Forest Service. Rachel moved around the North Island while carrying out her career planting native and exotic trees and establishing protected wildlife areas, and recreation/educational camps and facilities.
Rachel moved to Taupo and developed a series of successful property and retail businesses, including a jet boat operation in Fiji where she came to experience the tourism and travel industry as a provider.
Rachel has lived and travelled extensively around the globe in pursuit of discovery and adventure, which combined with her sensitive and caring spirit has crafted a desire to provide other explorers with quality experiences and most of all for them to HAVE FUN!
As a youth Ross grew up foraging wild foods, hunting small animals and birds, exploring native forests, sliding over mud flats and creeks while chasing eels and flounder in the upper reaches of a tidal inlet up the Kaipara Harbour in a small rural village. Ross maintained his quest of the outdoors while completing university. After 2 years backpacking around Europe and the Americas settled in the Manawatu 1987 where he owns a successful Health and Safety/Risk Management business. It was here in the rolling hills of the gorgeous Pohangina Valley he rekindled his love affair with cycling.
Ross competes at national (age group) level competitions and has coached National Champions and World Champion cyclists across several codes of Mountain Biking, Road Racing and Track (velodrome) racing.
Ross's skills at managing large sporting events and his intimate knowledge of trails and tracks around NZ developed a desire to provide quality cycling adventures to people of all abilities. After several years of "fun stuff" with "kids and friends" adventuring, Ross met Rachel and became "friends". After many rides and a glass of wine (or three...), the idea of developing Luxury Cycle Tours blossomed.
