Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose us?

Firstly!     We love doing what we do!

Secondly!     Our cycle tours are priced at the premium end of the market, at the very top!

As you know, quality and luxury, and premium care come at a price! (we have prepared only the best accomodation, food, natural wonders and adventure activities. You will NOT be staying at backpackers and budget hotels!!).

Thirdly!     Thankfully the most valuable things do come FREE! We trust you will find us warm, genuine, friendly, willing and generous.

Luxury is more than spending loads of money on fine establishments. It's about attention to fine details and careful selection of premium adventure activity operators, quality trails and locations, and the very best accommodation.

It's about quality TIME, and ensuring our guests don't queue up or wait for hours. It's about fine food and drinks, and soft towels and warm shower waiting for you at the end of a ride so you don't have to travel in sweaty smelly muddy clothes back to your accommodation. It's about having the bed covers turned back, and your favourite flowers and scents in the room. It's about your eggs being "sunny side up" or slightly firm, or however you prefer. Its' about providing you with surroundings you feel comfortable in. It's about your choice - being part of the noise in a busy restaurant or nestled away at secluded table on the waters edge.

Luxury is about providing YOU with the most rewarding experience. We can do this!

We pledge to provide you with quality care and attention.

Ross and Rachel own other successful businesses and have employed large numbers of people for over 30 years. What do I need to bring?

Your luggage will be transported for you.

For your comfort, we recommend you bring your current riding clothes, helmet, clipless shoes and pedals, to avoid discomfort. However there are many cycle shops with excellent ranges of quality made and modern apparel.

Our first stop is at Cambridge Velodrome which has a fine range of clothing and equipment.

Can I bring my own bikes and gear?

Yes! You can bring your own bikes, helmets, clothing, shoes, pedals, etc

You can use or top quality standard dual suspension mountain bikes, or mountain ebikes as part of your inclusive tour cost.

I’m keen to ride the trails and tracks but my partner isn’t quite as fit. Is that ok?

Yes of course.

Your partner can ride at their own pace, or travel with our support vehicle, or they can simply stay under the warm covers for a few hours longer, while you go off taming the tracks.

We can select easy interesting trails to ride and provide your partner with an ebike (and WOW!! watch them smile from ear to ear).

We guarantee it'll change their view on riding!!!!! Ask Rachel how her ebike has opened a whole new horizon of expectations!

What if I don’t want to ride on a particular day?

No problem – you can either have a rest day, or you can travel with the support vehicle and get to enjoy the scenery.
Or we can arrange alternative activities.
We can also create ‘rest days’ into your itinerary if you wish to spend a longer time in a particular area. Anything is possible. We are very flexible and accomodating hosts.

Why are most tours based in Central North Island?

No other region in NZ is so richly endowed with access to the most diverse and stunning natural features, extraordinary geography, amazing attractions and activities and excellent premium accomodation.

All our wonderful tours and journeys are within a short distance and easily accessed by car or helicopter.  No attraction is more than 1.5 hours away, with the majority only minutes from the door. Come step out into a whole new world - you will be amazed!

Does LCT provide tours in other parts of New Zealand?

Yes we do!

Although Ross and Rachel believe the Central North Island has just about everything you want to do and see, and they are all located within 1.5hrs of Taupo, we do create tours anywhere around NZ.

While Central North Island doesn't have Whale Watching, we do have Glow Worms in Waitomo, Trout in Turangi, Thermal Wonders in Rotorua, Live Volcanoes and much much more!!!! We have deliberately focused on the Central North Island for it's rich diversity in geography, birdlife and animal life, forestry and lakes, farmlands and wine and food that cannot be matched anywhere else in NZ.

We understand the hassle of transferring and wasted hours driving between activities and venues, so we have thoughtfully prepared itineraries that minimise the time driving and maximise the fun time, and relax time.

Yes we do! Yes, we will create a tour just for you anywhere in NZ. We love the South Island and North Island and look forward to every trip.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Northland. We recently travelled up Northland (above Auckland) and had a real blast. Stunning beaches, forests and early history. We are preparing a Northland Signature Tour for our winter months in the very mild north.
